Nepal Army had to wait near the end of first half to pull back equalizer courtesy of a penalty kick which was well taken by Raju Tamang. The penalty was awarded for a foul on Tanka Basnet by Palsang Lama. There was still more time for a goal left as Raju Tamang scored his and team's second in the added injury time to give 2-1 lead to Nepal Army. Raju hit the goal off a ball rebounded by Himalayan Sherpa goalie.
The thrilling end to first half was the pivotal moment of the match as the second half provided with less drama. Nepal Army Club with a one goal cushion tried to play it safe while Himalayan Sherpa lost their rhythm and focus as a result couldn't play their usual game. The final whistle provided with the same scoreline that was before halftime i.e. 2-1 as Nepal Army marched on to book their place in semifinals.
