Pokhara: Second Safal Pokhara Cup is all set to kick off from today at Pokhara Stadium. The opening match will be played between Friends Club and Armed Police Force. The tournament will be held untill 10th November where 12 teams will be competiting each other.
Eight A-Division teams: Manang Marshyangdi, Himalayan Sherpa Club, New Road Team, Friends Club, Machhindra FC, Armed Police Club, Nepal Police Club, Ranipokhri Corner Team and host Pokhara XI along with three international teams Bangladesh U-23, Druk Pol FC (Bhutan) and Kolkata Port Trust Sports Club (India) will vie for the cup.
Tomorrow host Pokhara XI will play against New Road Team, Machhindra FC will take Nepal Police Club on 31 October while Ranipokhari Corner Team will lock horn against Himalayan Sherpa Clun on 1 November.
Meanwhile Manang Marshyangdi, Druk Pole FC (Bhutan), Kolkata Port Trust Sports Club (India) and Bangladesh U-23 will compete from quarterfinals.
The winner of this year's tournament will take home Rs 305,000. The runners-up will receive Rs 150,000. There will also be individual prizes for best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward, coach, highest scorer as well as best player of the tournament.
