Himshree Foods Private Limited on Wednesday has renewed the sponsorship contract with Sahara Club of Pokhara for 10 years with a record amount for Aaha Gold Cup. The total amount of sponsorship is more than Rs 11.1 million. The contract was renewed on Wednesday as the previous 10-year sponsorship contract was about to expire. Himshree is the producer of popular noodles Rara and Aaha.

As per the new deal, the tournament will be named Aaha-Rara Gold Cup from next edition. However, the event to begin from January 31 in the current edition will be named Aaha-Rara Gold Cup. Himshree´s Managing Director Surya Bahadur KC and Sahara Club´s President Bikram Thakali signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. For the first three years from 2012 to 2014 Sahara will be given Rs 900,000 annually, while from 2015 to 2017 Sahara will get Rs 1.1 million each year. Similarly, from 2018 to 2020 the club will receive Rs 1.25 million each year and in 2021 the club will be given Rs 1.35 million. Other than cash, Himshree will also give noodles (Rara and Aaha) worth Rs 100,000 each year and track-suit and jerseys for 18 players. The contract of the last 10-year was worth Rs 2.9 million.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Himshree´s Managing Director KC said that the company renewed the contract as it was satisfied with the outcome of the previous 10-year contract. "Within these 10 years Aaha Gold Cup has itself established as brand. Thus we decided to add Rara after Aaha to promote our products in market."

"This extension has energized us," said Sahara President Bikram Thakali. "It is a matter of pride that the same company has sponsored us for two decades."

Sahara had proposed to sponsor the event only for five years but Himshree insisted on sponsoring it for 10 years and finally Sahara agreed. Other companies had also shown interest to sponsor the tournament.

"During the time of emergency as well, Himshree kept on supporting us, thus, we gave the company first priority for sponsorship," Thakali said, adding, "Besides this it is also a product of Pokhara-based company and a matter of pride for all Pokhara denizens. It is better to tie up with that company which has been supporting us for years and is also involved in social service."
