Maldives will play a friendly against Thailand on February 24th in preperation for 2012 AFC Challenge Cup to be held in Nepal during March. Thailand is hoping to utilise the friendly match in preperation for their World Cup qualifier against Oman.
Thailand is in group D with Saudi Arabia, Australia and Oman and stands a outside chance to still qualify for the World Cup qualifying round if they beat Oman. The friendly match will be held in Thailand though a venue has not been decided yet.
Meanwhile Maldives National Football team beat VB Addu FC 3-0 on 24 Jan match played at National Stadium. Goals scored by Ahmed Thariq (Tom), Hussain Niyaz (Bokuree) and Ali Fasir (Sentey). Ashfaq, Imran and Fazeel all featured in the game while Coach Urbanyi took the chance to give as many players as possible to play with various substitutions.
